On September 21, 2026, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) signed a contract worth Rs 586 crore with M/s Accurate Industrial Controls Private Limited in New Delhi for the procurement of Auxiliary Power Units (APUs) for T-72 and T-90 main battle tanks. The agreement was signed in the presence of Defence Secretary Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh.

Purpose of APUs: The Auxiliary Power Unit serves as an alternate power source for critical tank equipment, including the Fire Control System, firing circuits, and gun stabilization systems, without needing to run the main engine.
Operational Benefits: Inducting these indigenous APUs will enhance the operational readiness, sustainability, and longevity of the Indian Army's mechanized forces while reducing main engine wear and fuel consumption.
