India’s First Swadeshi Bullet Train 'B28' Design Ready: Ashwini Vaishnaw

Union Railway Minister **Ashwini Vaishnaw** announced during a visit to BEML in Bengaluru that the design for India’s first indigenous bullet train, designated as **'B28'**, is fully ready and its manufacturing is progressing rapidly.

- Swadeshi Bullet Train B28 Timeline & Role:
- Developed by a BEML-led consortium, the first prototype of the high-speed trainset **B28** is expected to roll out early next year (2027).
- Intended for deployment on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) Corridor as well as future high-speed rail networks.
- Engineering Features & Squeeze Test:
- Designed for operational speeds of **280 to 350 km/h**, coaches are undergoing rigorous **Squeeze Tests** to ensure structural integrity against atmospheric pressure caused by surrounding vacuum layers.
- Propulsion, power electronics, and structural bogies are built to international safety and efficiency standards.
