India to Host Inaugural Women's Champions Trophy 2027

Why in the News?
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced that the inaugural edition of the ICC Women’s Champions Trophy will be held in India from February 14 to 28, 2027. Originally scheduled in Sri Lanka, the tournament was relocated to India following an ICC evaluation.

Confirmed Venues: All matches of this 6-team T20I event will take place at the Cricket Club of India (CCI) in Mumbai and the Vadodara International Cricket Stadium.
Participating Nations: The tournament will feature Australia, England, India, New Zealand, South Africa, and Sri Lanka.
Relocation & Selection: India was chosen over Sri Lanka (and evaluated alongside Bangladesh and South Africa) by the ICC Board to ensure operational readiness.
Tournament Format: The six teams will compete in a round-robin league, with the top two teams advancing to the final on February 28, 2027.
