India to Host 12th BRICS Environment Ministers Meeting in New Delhi

Why in the News?
India is hosting the 12th BRICS Environment Ministers Meeting in New Delhi under its BRICS presidency. The meeting is chaired by the Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Bhupender Yadav. The main event was preceded by meetings of the BRICS Senior Officials from the Environment Working Group and the Contact Group on Climate Change.

Meeting Theme: The theme for this year's meeting is "Building Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation, and Sustainability."
Four Priority Areas: India has identified four priority areas under the BRICS Environment Working Group: Promoting Sustainable Lifestyles, Forest Restructuring & Forest Fire Management, Circular Economy, and Climate Adaptation.
Strengthening Cooperation: The forum provides a platform for concrete discussions, consensus building, and strengthening environmental and climate cooperation among BRICS nations.
