The Government of India signed a $230 million (~₹2,200 crore) loan agreement with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to modernize and upgrade the water supply and sanitation infrastructure in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

Project Name: Chennai Climate-Resilient Water Security and Sewerage Project.
Infrastructure Expansion: Involves laying over 170 km of water supply and sewerage pipelines, along with upgrading 7 water pumping stations and 38 sewer pumping stations.
First Ring-Main Solution: Chennai will become the first Indian city to implement a comprehensive ring-main solution—a closed-loop plumbing system designed to balance water pressure and optimize distribution.
