UNESCO Tentative List: India Adds 5 New Heritage Sites

Why in the News?
In a major boost to India's cultural footprint, 5 new sites have been officially added to the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List, taking India's total count on the tentative list to 78.
Key Features / Major Points:
5 New Additions:
Bagh Cave Paintings (Madhya Pradesh): Group of 9 rock-cut Buddhist caves on the banks of the Baghni River in the Vindhyan range.
Group of Temples of the Chambal Valley (Madhya Pradesh): Includes temple clusters of Bateshwar, Padavali, and Kakarmath.
Udaigiri Caves (Madhya Pradesh): Rock-cut sacred ensemble consisting of 20 excavated caves developed under Gupta patronage (4th–5th century CE).
Ginnorgarh Fort (Madhya Pradesh): Historical fortified capital of the erstwhile Raj Gond rulers in central India.
Sites of Satyagraha (India & South Africa): A transnational proposal depicting the evolution of Mahatma Gandhi's idea of Satyagraha.
Components of Satyagraha Proposal (9 Sites):
South Africa (2 components): Pietermaritzburg station and Phoenix Settlement.
India (7 components): Sabarmati Ashram, Sevagram Ashram, Aga Khan Palace, Gandhi Smriti, Mani Bhavan, Harijan Sevak Sangh, and Mahatma Gandhi Satyagraha Smarak.
Mandatory Step: Recognition on the Tentative List is a mandatory prerequisite for any property to be considered for final World Heritage Status nomination.
