Gujarat Completes Mangrove Plantation Across 27,000 Hectares in Kutch Under ‘MISHTI’ Scheme

Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav announced that Gujarat has achieved a major environmental milestone by successfully completing mangrove plantation across 27,000 hectares in Kutch under the ‘MISHTI’ scheme, accomplishing a massive portion of its 29,000-hectare target.
Key Features / Major Points:
Scientific Nursery and Community Participation: The Minister visited the scientific nursery in Jakhau, established to raise mangrove and seaweed species adapted to local tidal conditions, with active participation from local coastal communities and the Border Security Force (BSF).
Fleet Enhancement for Wildlife: As part of wildlife protection and conservation efforts, 33 patrolling and rescue vehicles were flagged off for the state forest department.
‘Saira Van Kavach’: The Union Minister also inaugurated ‘Saira Van Kavach’ under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, featuring over 10,000 plants of 49 species across one hectare, along with dedicated apiculture setups.
