ASI Declares Gollala Gudi Site of National Importance
Why in the News?
The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has officially declared Gollala Gudi in Palampet, Mulugu district of Telangana, as a Site of National Importance.
Key Features / Major Points:
Location: Palampet, Mulugu District (Telangana), situated close to the UNESCO World Heritage Site Ramappa Temple.
Historical Significance: Belongs to the Kakatiya Dynasty period, sharing architectural styles and construction materials similar to the Ramappa Temple.
Integrated Complex: The State Government transferred 16 acres to ASI to integrate Ramappa Temple, Shiva Temple, and Gollala Gudi through a single access complex.
Total Sites: Increases the count of ASI-protected sites in the region to 10.
