DPIIT Partners with PhonePe and Shell India to Boost Startup Ecosystem
Why in the News?
The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with PhonePe and Shell India Pvt. Ltd. to strengthen support for DPIIT-recognized startups and drive innovation across key economic sectors.
Key Features / Major Points:
Partnership with PhonePe: Under this collaboration, PhonePe will offer DPIIT-recognized startups benefits such as transaction credits for its Payment Gateway, access to the Indus AppStore, dedicated onboarding support, and masterclasses on fintech, sales, and business scaling.
Partnership with Shell India: This agreement focuses on startups in the energy and climate-tech sectors. Shell India will provide mentorship, strategic guidance, investor-incubator connections, and entry into the Shell E4 Smart Energy Track.
Knowledge Sharing & Reporting: The collaboration with Shell India includes preparing sectoral success stories, white papers, policy briefs, and industry landscape reports to showcase emerging innovations.
Core Objective: To enhance startups' access to digital infrastructure, mentorship, market linkages, and funding, fostering a self-reliant startup ecosystem.
