Ministry of Defence Signs Over ₹53,880 Crore Deals for 8 Next-Generation Corvettes

The Ministry of Defence (MoD), in the presence of Defence Secretary **Rajesh Kumar Singh**, signed landmark contracts worth **over ₹53,880 crore** with GRSE and GSL for the acquisition of **eight Next-Generation Corvettes (NGCs)** for the Indian Navy.

- Construction Split & Nodal DPSUs:
- **Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE), Kolkata:** To construct 5 corvettes.
- **Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL), Goa:** To construct the remaining 3 corvettes.
- Historic milestone: First project where ships designed indigenously by the Indian Navy will be constructed by DPSUs selected via a competitive process.
