Why in the News?
The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the PM-DHARA (PM-Developing Harmonized and Accelerated Renewable-energy Access) Scheme with a total outlay of ₹1,86,405 crore to boost green energy transmission and grid integration.

Key Features / Major Points:
Full Form of PM-DHARA: PM-Developing Harmonized and Accelerated Renewable-energy Access.

Financial Outlay & Breakup:
Total Outlay: ₹1,86,405 crore (Targeted implementation by FY 2032-33).

Intra-State Transmission System (Green Energy Corridor Phase-III): ₹1,36,378 crore (to evacuate up to 135 GW of renewable energy).

Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS): ₹50,000 crore for deploying 50 GWh capacity.

Central Financial Support: The scheme includes Central Financial Support of ₹54,082 crore to help keep electricity costs lower for consumers.

Implementation Model:
Greenfield projects will follow Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) under the BOOM (Build-Own-Operate-Maintain) model.

Brownfield upgradations will be carried out on a Cost Plus Basis (CPB).

State Transmission Utilities (STUs) will serve as the primary implementing agencies.
